Introduction

There are many traiditional lullabies and soothing songs for babies sung by the Korean people. Listening to these songs, babies fell asleep feeling the love and warmth of their family. In addition to relaxing and entertaining babies, these soothing songs were often accompanied by simple gestures and motions that aided the babies' physical development. In the past, Korean Folk Music for babies could be heard rather easily in Korean communities, but this is no longer true today following the expansion of mass edia and the music industry. This exhibition will present various Korean Folk Music related to childrearing, pricularly lullabies (jajanga). We hope you can feel the beauty of Korean childrearing songs that embody the Korean people's sentimemts and wisdom.
