Jeju Folk Songs

The Seoul Museum of Korean Folk Music has planned to hold a 2020 fall special, the “Special Exhibition of Jeju Folk Songs courtesy of Mr. Jo Yeong-bae: Neoyeong Nayeong.” This event has been projected based on the audio sources and videos of folk songs set up through Jeju Island, which Mr. Jo Yeong-bae, a folk song researcher and songwriter, has steadily collected since the 1960s. In the exhibition, visitors may watch popular folk songs, which is common in Jeju, inherited after they were imported from the land long ago, along with native folk songs in which people’s joys and sorrows in Jeju are combined. Seeing that Jeju Island is called the “Land of Folk Songs,” it is a place where various unique folk songs have been inherited.This event may give people, who would like to be interested in Jeju folk songs, a wonderful experience.
